Dragon’s Reigns IFF

In the world of Kalay animals and humans coexist much as they do on Earth. But in Kalay, a different type of creature truly rules over the land…the dragon!

Years of turmoil between the dragons and the humans of Kalay have gone by with wars and rivalry in its wake. But a select few humans decided to befriend the dragons, finding that they are more then just thoughtless beasts. The dragons cannot only talk, but they are smart…smarter then humans!

In the city of Cliffside a tie between dragons and humans have come to new heights. The friendship between dragon and human is monumental in this city and because of this they have become the enforcers of peace in Kalay. The common people of Kalay have dubbed these enforcers ‘dragon riders’. But the friendship between rider and dragon is much more then a mount…it is an eternal bond.

After a century of peace thanks to the help of the dragon riders, Kalay is finally able to breath easy. Dragons do not attack villages as much any more and humans are not as afraid of dragons as they once were. But an unsettling wind blows from the west. Over the Great Expanse, a mountain range never traversed by the people of Kalay, a black cloud settles. The dragon riders of Cliffside are uneasy in the sight of the dark cloud and many believe it to be an omen of evil things approaching. Whatever the cloud means, one thing is for sure…it will test the dragon rider’s skills and see just how mighty the enforcers of Kalay are!

Character basics:
There are three basic arias you can be from and, therefore, three different characters you can play:

First are the dragon riders of the eastern coastal city, Cliffside. Being one of those you have access to not only expert combat training but a dragon (more on them later).

Second are the humans or dragons of the central plains. You generally can’t have a dragon companion if you are from here but that doesn’t stop some from trying to become a dragon rider of Cliffside. As for the dragons, you can also choose to be one of those. Most in the central plains stay to themselves and avoid all contact with humans but some are curious, greedy, or even evil monsters! (Try to stay away from playing an antagonist dragon, though)

Third are the savage humans and dragons of the Great Expanse. Many are barbarous fighters or powerful wizards (more on magic later). The dragons rarely allow the humans to ride them here, but when they do, they are a fearsome duo of destruction. (If you choose one of these you will be the enemy of the dragon riders).

Wizardry:
Magic is a dangerous art and is lost to many in the eastern cliffs and central plains. Those that do know of it respect it greatly and NEVER over step their bounds. Magic uses the life force energy of the person or being that uses it and casting too much magic can kill the user. The more powerful the spell, the more draining it becomes to cast it. Use discretion on your spell choice if you so choose to use it…because it may be the last choice you make!!!

The Dragons:
There are six basic types of dragons and each has its own quirk and power. All dragons can fly and range in size based on the dragon color (sizes stated at the end of this section). The dragon types are as follows:

Green: the green is the most common of all dragons. Found all over Kalay, they are nothing too special. Their personality is the only of the six dragons that ranges from cruel to kind and you can usually never tell just by the look of the dragon. The only special trait the green dragon has is its fire breath.

Blue: the blue dragon is the most curious of them all. They are always ready for an adventure and usually tend to be more willing to question an opponent then kill him outright. They are not usually cruel or evil but the ones that are, are methodical in their actions. The blue dragon can breathe a long chain of lightning and a very small amount of fire.

Red: the red dragon is rarely ever seen outside of the Great Expanse. Dew to their cruel and malicious nature, they are not seen too often in Cliffside. The ones that are not true to their heritage, though, are always trying to clear their names. The red is a meticulous dragon, regardless of his nature. He is very keen to his surroundings and pays the slightest detail as much attention as any other detail. This makes them a perfect fighting machine. The only trait the red dragon has is its huge fire breath.

Brass: the brass dragon is a kind and thoughtful dragon. They make the best companions and are extremely loyal. They are protective of what they have and are cautious to a fine degree. Rarely seen as cruel or evil, the brass is naturally a kind-hearted dragon. The brass dragon’s breath attack is different from any other in that they cannot exhume fire. The breath weapon they can use is a fine mist or cloud of sleeping gas.

Silver: the silver is, by far, the most physically powerful dragon. They are territorial in the wild and have an extreme sense of justice as a mount. The major point to a silver dragon is that they have no real sense of ‘good vs. evil’. Justice and integrity is all that matters, the means are nothing compared to the ends. The silver dragon can exhume a very small burst of fire and a cloud of liquid nitrogen (or ice). The range for their breath attacks are very limited, however, and rarely call upon them dew to their massive amount of physical power.

Gold: the gold is the most intelligent and wise of all dragons. They are not only smart but the most agile of the dragons (especially in the air) despite their size. A gold is almost never cold hearted or mean spirited do to their wisdom of the world. Gold dragons are kind, warm welcoming, and a powerful leader. Their outlook on justice is very similar to the silver dragon but the gold is less willing to kill to keep justice. A gold dragon is the most likely to study magic. Their breath attacks are an immensely large fire cone and a cloud of paralyzing mist (which is much smaller).

Dragon sizes:
Green: ranging is size from a large horse to about the size of a school bus, the green is the smallest.
Blue: the blue dragon is about the same size as the green but they are about one to seven feet taller and larger then the average green.
Brass: quite a bit larger then the blue, the average brass is anywhere from double to triple in size then the average blue dragon.
Silver and Red: the silver and red dragon are twice the size of a brass but the silver dragon is considerably bulkier then its red counterpart.
Gold: the gold dragon is one and a half to two times as large as the average red. Though they do not look nearly as bulky as most silver dragons.

Use the following format to sign-up your character:

Role: (your civil role…as in your profession)
Rank and Wing: (if applicable) (this is where you put what command you belong to and what rank you are. Some ranks are taken by NPCs but many are open. Ranks include private, PFC, sergeant, first sergeant, lieutenant, and captain. Only one 1st sergeant, lieutenant, and captain per wing)
Description and Brief History: (a quick description of your character and what he had to go through in the world of Kalay to make him the way he is now)

Character Name: (use whatever name you feel like…dragons do not have last names)
Territory of birth: (West Great Expanse, Central Plains, or East Cliffside City)

Description and Brief History: (a quick description of your character and what he had to go through in the world of Kalay to make him the way he is now. Dragons grow to their full size in eighteen years but live for over five hundred years.)

The Dragon Rider Wings: (open positions are first come first serve)

Alpha Wing: the first wing of the dragon riders and the most skilled. It takes years of training to earn a seat on this wing.

Beta Wing: the second wing of Cliffside and the tacticians of the dragon riders. They rarely enter combat and are extremely intelligent men and dragons.

Gamma Wing: the secret service of the dragon riders. They usually deal with more sensitive matters such as traitors and spying. They also serve as the royal guard to General King Jason.

PFC: Calop Longleaf (Dragon: Selo) [Flantic’s character]

Delta Wing: the S.W.A.T. of the dragon riders. They specialize in magic and firepower and are usually only called upon when dealing with particularly dangerous dragons.

Epsilon Wing: the research and development department of the dragon riders. They study the dragon race and methods to make riding them safer and easier. Many question their need to exist, but the General King believes they are necessary to understand the dragon kind.

Sigma Wing: the largest of the wings, Sigma is the infantry wing of the dragon riders. They are scrambled in war times and many have a great deal of training in formation combat.

Omega Wing: omega wing is the most feared of the wings. They are powerful in every aspect of dragon riding and fear no one. Magic is a big use in omega wing. They are the best duelists and do not train in any formation tactics. There are very few omega wing members.

NPC quick descriptions:

General King Jason Jorren: the title ‘General King’ is just a fancy title given to the leader of Cliffside City and all of the eastern coast. Jason is a mysterious man and is generally kind hearted. He believes in justice above all else and is willing to sacrifice his throne to keep the justice.
Dragon: Morlow is a beautiful gold dragon. He is twice the size of any other gold and is known as the King of Dragons (much like Jason is the king of dragon riders). Morlow is feared by all evil hearted dragons and revered by all good natured ones.

Kos Krey: Captain Krey is an honorable man. A brilliant tactician, he can make light of any situation. Lighthearted and outgoing, he is rarely in a bad mood. His weapon of choice is a long sword and a shield.
Dragon: J’noren is a brass dragon and is the typical brass. He is very friendly and complements Krey’s personality very well.

Zellote Lonn: Captain Lonn is a very popular man in Cliffside. He is charismatic, kind, and a bit of a womanizer. His note to detail is beyond that of the average human and he uses this to his advantage. He is a loyal man to Jason and would follow him to his death. Lonn wields a bow and his only melee weapon is a pair of daggers.
Dragon: Crass is a brilliant blue dragon. He is considerably calm for a blue but he can have his natural blue moments. His loyalty to Lonn is compared to that of a brass dragon’s and would never dream of betraying his rider.

Darren Wright: Captain Wright is somewhat of a lazy man. His expertise is rarely called upon and he usually spends his days training new recruits how to fly in formation. He is indomitably cool headed and angering him in any way is a task not often accomplished. Wright’s favorite weapon is a rapier.
Dragon: Longly is a large green dragon. Particularly large for a green, it isn’t that hard to pick him out amongst a group of green dragons. He is calm, outgoing, easy to talk to, and a good listener. Many humans and dragons alike come to him to talk about their troubles.

Damion Trask: Captain Trask is the most fearsome of all the captains. None have ever dared stand in his way and he is never seen without his huge sword on his back. He is considerably taller then any other person from the east coast and some speculate that he was born in the Great Expanse. He is usually level headed and doesn’t seek fighting and is a man of few words. He lightens up immensely when he drinks.
Dragon: Omen is an average sized silver dragon. The only mark that shows him from other silver dragons is a large scar running from his right eye down his right side to the end of his tail. He is fearless and powerful and many dragons give him a wide birth dew to his bad temper.

Rules about using NPCs (cause you will do it):
Stick to the description and if you have any doubts just PM me. Anything that doesn’t match up must and WILL be changed before the IFF continues.

Description and Brief History: Flanor is an honorable man and is one of the youngest captains to ever make it to the dragon rider ranks. He is kind hearted and never backs down. His stubborn nature was given to him by his father who was a captain of Alpha wing just like Flanor. His father died when Flanor was just a child and since then he has been raised like a child by General King Jason. His weapon of choice is a two-handed claymore. He is about six feet tall and has short, dark brown hair. His muscular frame is hidden by his rider leathers.

Dragon:
Character Name: Zeta
Territory of birth: Central Plains
Wing and Rider Name: Flanor Mason’s dragon of Alpha Wing
Description and Brief History: born in the central plains and raised by Flanor’s great, great grandfather, Zeta is a spectacular gold dragon. He is loved by many and is known throughout the city as a wise and honorable dragon of old. Like his father before him, Flanor earned the right to bond with Zeta.

Character Name: Calop Longleaf
Territory of birth: East Cliffside City
Role: Dragon Rider
Rank and Wing: Private First Class of Gamma Wing
Description and Brief History: Calop is a PFC of Gamma wing. He is a long time rider of the wing and has no ambitions to become any higher in rank then he already is. He is friendly, funny, and warmhearted. Always looking to help, his roll on Gamma wing is usually errand boy. His favorite weapon is a short sword.

Dragon:
Character Name: Selo
Territory of birth: East Cliffside City
Wing and Rider Name: Calop Longleaf’s dragon of Gamma Wing
Description and Brief History: Selo is a young blue dragon. He is mischievous and playful and brings light to whatever room he is in. he usually ends up getting Calop and himself into a whole mess of trouble with Captain Lonn. Despite this, he is liked by many.

Oh, and BTW…any psychic communication between dragon and rider is to be bracketed with < and >. This is just for formal purposes and should be a thing that all will come to know as psychic communication (avoiding any confusion).

Wow...I love to role-play, that's for sure...but I'm not sure if my little Meowth or any of my other characters would work. I'll have to ask you more if you're ever on again.

Yeah, my "RPs" are actually more closely defined as "Interactive Fan Fictions (or IFFs)". Meaning LONG posts, LOTS of descriptions and a great deal of imagination involved. All you gotta do is follow the rules and it'll be a blast.

So basically, the only characters allowed are those that match the world...as in no Pokemon allowed and the only things that exist in the world are all described above. Oh, and this world there are no anthros...I should probably mention that too XD

Thanks, Karmy. Haven't gotten anyone to sign up yet, but back in it's day (on the Bob and George forums) this IFF was pretty popular XD

Hopefully I can get a few to sign up for it so we can start (though, I might just start it myself soon...maybe attract a few people with the style).

a good IFF NEEDS a lot of text or it leaves the rest of the characters guessing. ESPECIALLY when it's an original story.
